Meet Tanya

About Tanya
Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Family Therapist & EMDR Practitioner. Special Focus On Child Development, Neurodivergence, Chronic Illness and Trauma.
Background and Experience
Tanya graduated in 2011 from The University of Sydney with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Science. She then completed further training and registered as a family therapist.
Tanya has extensive knowledge and experience working with children and families. She worked in the Royal Children’s Hospital Chronic Pain Team for over 12 years and also worked in the Victorian Rehabilitation Paediatric Rehabilitation service. Tanya has experience working with chronic pain, chronic fatigue and somatic illnesses, and the treatment of Psychological trauma and adjustment in the context of chronic illness and adverse childhood events.
Tanya has experience with a number of therapeutic techniques to support both parents and children. Tanya is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative and Mindfulness-based approaches. She has advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is well versed in TraumaPlay and Synergetic Play Therapy, which provides a framework and strategies for treating children who have experienced trauma.
Tanya has advanced training in adult and child attachment models including Circle of Security, the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), and the Child Attachment and Play Assessment (CAPA).
Tanya has further training and experience with neurodivergence and particularly enjoys working with neurodivergent clients. She approaches neurodivergence through a trauma informed lens and her practices are aligned with a neuroaffirming framework. Tanya has done advanced training in both EMDR and play therapy techniques that best support neurodivergent children.
Tanya is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA and is eligible to provide clinical psychology services under Medicare. She is a registered family therapist with AAFT and is a registered EMDR practitioner with EMDRAA.
Practice Philosophy
Tanya believes in trauma informed care and in providing a personalised and holistic approach to healthcare. She values working with the system surrounding the child including parents, teachers, Paediatricians and allied health professionals.
